Boomerang has developed and patented 'Intelligent Messaging' which is the ability to thread communications between an automated process and a human being, irrespective of the number of messages or order of reply; improving the user experience whilst driving efficiencies.

What does Boomerang do?

This unique technology underpins the range of messaging products that have developed to help our customers automate their business communication processes. Boomerang's ambition is to be a market leader in digital messaging and to achieve this, we have gone back to the drawing board and re-thought how organisations can get the most out of digital messaging. We realised that two related components were key; creating a frictionless experience for the end customer ensuring they use, and reuse the communications channel, which in turn allows an organisation to fulfil a range of business processes using automated communications reducing the need for manual involvement.

Boomerang's products can support many valuable business workflows to fulfil corporate compliance, making it easy to connect to third party devices to process M-2-M, IoT or monitoring alerts. We also have products that automate the scheduling of staff and availability of resources, allow configuration of dynamic user journeys for surveys and customer support, or even as an alternative to telephoning call centres... Pairing messages with responses, regardless of quantity, or order of reply

As organisations look to extend the range and quality of engagements with their stakeholders, the ability to track messages and match responses becomes vital. Without it, you cannot manage more than one communication thread with the same recipient at any one time. This is a MAJOR limitation that has prevented true automation across digital communications and results in increased financial overheads, manual workarounds and a less than satisfactory end-user experience. Boomerang technology has overcome this limitation.

Why is 'Intelligent messaging' so important?

The following scenario illustrates what this means:

An organisation with mobile staff wants to issue jobs to those staff using SMS. Multiple jobs are issued each day and mobile staff are expected to reply to each message, to provide updates on the status of the job.

Without Boomerang's intelligent messaging, jobs are issued to the mobile staff via different SMS messages but they are unable to reply to the messages to provide updates. When a reply is returned, it cannot be matched back to the specific outbound message, so it is not possible to identify which of the jobs is being updated. As such, the process is not automatable and requires manual involvement.

Adding Boomerang's Intelligent messaging to the process means that progress updates on the status of each individual job are now returned to the job management system irrespective of the number of messages, or order of replies as mobile staff reply to each message. Additionally, mobile staff can reply to cancel a job that has been allocated to them, which is then automatically offered to other available members of the team.

This automation removes a layer of administration that would otherwise be required, to manually update the status of a job, based on a telephone conversation or ad-hoc communication.
